On the show this week, we’re talking about the power of community.
If we’re going to up-level our speaking, and truly step into what’s possible (in other words, make more money with our speaking) – we can’t do it alone. We need each other. Let’s get paid to speak!
So – what kind of support helps us do that? Let’s talk about it!

Here’s the deal. If you want to have a bigger impact, you have to accept this one important idea. And that is this. You cannot do it alone. You need support. So the question is, what kind of support do you need?
Let’s talk about it.
Hey everybody. Welcome back to this move to me. My name is Sally Z. I am your speaker coach, and I empower big hearted entrepreneurs like you to leverage the power of speaking so that you can grow your impact and your authority without all the time. Suck and frustration of unrecognized action. That’s right.
In other words, I help you step up front with more confidence and courage.
In talking with so many entrepreneurs over the past month or so as a part of our million dollar mission. Well, there was this theme that kept coming up and it just rang abundantly clear. And that was, you can’t do this by yourself.
Nobody can. We need each other on the mission. If you want to have a bigger impact, you can’t do it alone.
Every week as a part of the emerging speakers society. I do. What’s kind of like a next level training for the community, just inside the emerging speaker society, Facebook group.
So if you’re not a part of it, you should come be a part of it. And sometimes I am just taking what we talked about on the episode and going in a little bit deeper sometimes. Exploring an aspect of the idea or the episode that I didn’t have time to get into. Sometimes we’re just opening up a dialogue in the community and taking their questions and just being of service to them around this idea.
What I was thinking about after all these conversations we’ve been having as a part of the million dollar mission, is this idea of community, like what kind of community do we need to help us level up so that we can reach the next stage in our growth and development so that we can become the million dollar speaker, the million dollar business that so many of us are dreaming.
What does it really take? Because we can’t do it ourselves. We can’t do it alone. We need each other, what do we need from each other in the process?
As we dive in, I want to make two requests of you. Number one, I hope you will come and join us over in the group for trainings. Just like the one that you are about to hear. So I’m taking one of the trainings that I did in the group, and I’m sharing part of it with you here on the show so that you can see what we’re doing over in the group.
But also because I think this is a really important conversation. Everybody to be having, but if you want more stuff like this, I do hope that you will come join us over in the group. You just got to go to be moved.com forward slash E S S for emerging speaker society. So I will see you over there.
And the second thing that I would really like for you to do is to come join us officially for the million dollar mission. So over the last six weeks or so, that’s what we’ve been talking about. We’ve got a few more shows, really focused on this idea of what we can do together. When we really think bigger.
There’s so much, that’s possible with us in our speaking, but we have to push ourselves to do that. And that’s what I want this million dollar mission to do. So if you haven’t yet joined that officially, I hope that you will, you can go to bmo.com forward slash ESS and be moved.com forward slash mission.
Now, these two requests are really. Related to our topic today for the show, because they’re both about community, they’re both about doing better together rather than on our own. And speaking, you’ll be such an isolating lonely journey because it’s just you up there. So you’re kind of like, you know, I’m different from other people in my business is different and it can feel like.
You’re just in this, on your own, but that is not true.
My vision is to really create a movement of speakers that are sharing their authentic voices to grow their impact and their authority. Because I think speaking can do that in such an incredible way. So I hope you will join both the mission and the group in the emerging speaker society. Okay. On with the show, let’s get to it. Shall we? 📍
Welcome, welcome. My background has changed.
Maybe you have noticed I am not at my office at home. And for those of you who are newer to me or newer to the emerging speakers society. You maybe don’t know, but I spend as much time as I possibly can at my parents’ cabin in Wisconsin. It’s like an hour and a half from my house in St. Paul.
And I was like, I’m going to do my movers live from the cabin. if you look closely. You can see family pictures and see what my mom and dad are all about. So fun. So thanks for coming with me up here. It’s one of the things I love about my job is I can kind of take you on wherever I go. Yay. You guys, our million dollar mission is growing.
It’s going so well. I just want to give you a quick update. We are up to $190,000 of impact. So fabulous. Now that’s 19 people. We’re looking for a hundred, so we’ve got a ways to go, but I am really excited about 19.
If you were watching this and you are not on that list, I want you to come join, come join right there, right there. Be moved.com forward slash mission. Now here’s what you’re signing up for. This is a fascinating doesn’t cost anything anythingthing You’re signing up for encouragement. You’re signing up for accountability or signing for some of the things that we’re going to be talking about today in this movers live.
To help you step into bigger goals to push you a little bit. So you will get an email from me about once a month. It’s low key. I’m going to throw a resource at you. I’m going to check in with you, how’s it going? this will help you step into a bigger stage in your speaking. Oh, you’re here kind of an emerging speaker because you’re putting intention towards your speaking and you want to grow with your speaking.
I think we do better when we do this together and it is helping me do this in my own work as well. and that’s really a perfect lead in to our movers live training today, which is all about community and support.
if you have not
yet listened to the show, it just came out early this morning and. I love this conversation that we had on the show. So a handful of people, I called together, people that I was like, I know they’re on the journey on this. I know they’ve done a lot of work around this. Some of them help other people with their money mindsets and I was like, we’re all entrepreneurs let’s get together.
Let’s talk about how we can really push each other, a B what has, what are the stories? What are the beliefs that we’ve let go of? What have you embraced? What has helped you grow and step into that next stage of speaking? So we just had the most delightful, funny, real vulnerable conversation. And I hope that it gives you life and support.
And some of the things that we’re talking about today, in fact, Jen Whitmer who I got to see in person this week. Oh my gosh. Jen has been through STS with me. If you’re here Jen, say hello, I’m just so honored to be her coach. We got to see each other in person for the first time on Tuesday, which was so, so delightful.
And Jen is in this conversation. She sat on this panel that is on the show this week. And at one point during the show, she said, You know, Sally, I just so appreciate that we can have these conversations that we are doing this in community because it plays a powerful role for her. And I was like, absolutely for me too.
And so I was thinking about how good it felt to have that conversation with these other entrepreneurs who are in slightly different places in their business than I. We’re all in slightly different places, but yet we all were, we’re kind of resonating and jiving with each other’s stories and challenges.
and I thought we have to have more of these conversations together now. Honestly, it’s part of the reason why I said. I want to, I want to create more impact in my business and I want to push my speakers to create more impact in theirs, and that means making more money. And so I love the idea of doing it together.
Selfishly, I feel more driven when I’m driving you. That’s just how that’s part of my why. And so the community piece is really powerful for me. It’s really. What’s the word it’s, it’s motivating. It’s super motivating for me. and we all need community. Community plays a role in our lives, but I want to talk about three things that can up level your support from a community perspective.
Okay. These are three things that you want from a community or a coach or somebody else you turn to and say, I can’t do this alone anymore. And you start turning to other people and saying, I need help. Okay. Here are three things that I think that have really helped me and that I am trying to bring into this experience.
Okay. Now be thinking about this because I’m going to tap into your insights at the end and of course throw any questions that you have as you’re listening to this as well.
The first thing that I think we need from a community or a coach. And I kind of think of those two things as part and parcel with each other.
Now, not all coaches do community, not all communities have a coach, but to me they’re really intricately connected.
I think the first thing that we need to up level our support. Is accountability. And that word kind of sounds a little scary and a little bit like, you know, kinda mom ish, but that’s kinda have that kind of station to it, but the way I think of accountability and I’ve heard one of my mentors say this and I thought, okay, that’s, that’s exactly it.
It’s equal parts, demanding and supportive. Hey, if it’s all demanding, that’s not really accountability because it doesn’t support you in the process of growth. And that’s an important part of accountability. And if it’s all support, but no demand, no push, no challenge. It’s not going to help you get to the next place.
So you want really equal parts demanding and supportive. So when you find people in your life, who are that for you? That’s goldmine kind of support Okay. So we want demanding and supportive, not just support, but also push. That’s the first thing.
The second thing that I think we can get from a community that will really help you up level is what I call clear mirroring.
And one thing I can tell you for sure, as a speaker coach is most people do not see themselves clearly. They just don’t again and again, and again, I am holding up what I hope is a clear mirror to my speakers. I want you to see all the good, and I’m not just talking about, look at it and like looking at the stuff that you don’t want to see most of the time, we don’t have any problems seeing that stuff.
Much of the time I’m saying no you’re missing, you’re missing this beautiful thing that you do really, really well. That clear mirroring is powerful. It’s empowering, and it helps us take strong steps forward helps us move forward with confidence. So without the clear mirror, we Lost in stuff that isn’t helpful.
We get stuck, we don’t move forward. So sometimes I’m holding up a clear mirror and I’m saying, you know, this isn’t working right here. This part isn’t working. But here’s, here’s something that might help you move forward. So when you have the right kind of support, they help hold up a clear mirror for you and where it feels like a safe place for you to show yourself and be willing to say, what do you see? What do you see in me?
Melissa says, most people don’t see themselves clearly. Yeah. You’re not alone on that, Melissa. You really are.
It’s rare to find somebody who has evolved to that point, because I just think it’s a lifelong process and it ebbs and flows for all of us. There are seasons in our life where we might see ourselves more clearly than in other seasons, which is totally fair. Let us just, that is life right there for you.
Okay. So we are demanding and support. It’s a place where we feel safe to be seen. And we know we will get clear mirroring. They’re going to help us see ourselves more clearly. That’s some pretty powerful upleveling happening right there.
And then the third piece, which is pretty self-explanatory, but the kind of community that’s going to push you to help you reach that next stage for yourself is a place where you feel connected.
I love that word connection is one of my values. In my company in my life with my kids in my community, connection is a core value for me and connection. Isn’t just, we spend time together, but connection is really about, I feel safe. I feel like I can really be my authentic self and I care.
I care about you. This is not just fun or superficial, but I really feel connected to you. Now, you guys have heard if you’ve been here, you know that to me, the real intent with speaking. Is to connect with our audience. And you’re like, how do you, how do you create a space where we can show up as our full, authentic selves and an audience can say, yeah, I feel connected to that person.
Well, it requires vulnerability. It requires risk. Courage requires joy, like a, an openness to the full expanse. Of life’s experience, not being afraid to, to sit with people and empathy and to have, you know, dance like you don’t care who thinks you’re crazy. Like that level of joy. These are all my values here in, in my work with you.
And ultimately connection is only possible when we can do those things. So that’s what I want us doing in my community. And that’s what I want you to be looking for with a community. And a coach is someplace where you feel connected, where you feel like you can be your authentic self, where there’s not shame where you can bring the full expanded.
Your experience where you’re pushed to take big risks and show up, really show up and invest in each other in the way that we experienced in our best days as a speaker.
Does that all make sense? That’s a lot. I feel like I just gave a little Ted talk on connection right there. So demanding and supportive, clear mirroring and connect.
When you can find these pieces, this is a community or a coach that can really push you and help you up level.
And the reason I wanted to talk about this today is because we can’t do big things, like take on a million dollar mission to grow a million dollar business, to earn $10,000 or more as a speaker.
We can’t do that stuff on our own. I really can’t. Nobody, nobody gets anywhere on their own. That’s just the truth. And when we can find people to supercharge our process, that is incredibly powerful because we don’t feel alone. I can’t tell you how many times in this conversation with the panel this week, where we just all nodding the resonance.
The I’m not the only one who struggles with this. That is connection. That is going to be what catapults us to the next place.
So my question for you is what can we do here? Is there anything that we can do here in this group, in the emerging speaker society to live out these values even more, I can’t do it alone.
And I want you all to step into this journey as well. What do you need? What can you do for, and with each other to make this a place where we are really up leveling our support.
We’re demanding or supportive. We are clear and kind mirrors for each other and we are connected. What could that look like?
I don’t have the answers to that. I’m asking, asking the question. I am totally open to your thoughts and ideas on it. Feel free to just plop them in the comment. If anything comes to you or send me a message
Hey everybody. Thanks again for joining me on this moved me. I am so grateful that you are here with me again and again each week. And as you can see, I don’t know if you can tell by the title or if you’ve heard this or seen this anywhere, but we are approaching 350. Here on this movie. That is crazy to me.
I started this a long time ago. It’s been up and down. It’s evolved a little bit. It keeps kind of changing. That is the nature of this business, but I can hardly believe we are at almost 300 episodes. So I’m curious. What do you think we should do to celebrate that? What would you like to see here on the show?
If you have any ideas for me on how you want to celebrate this and how we can celebrate it together, I would love to hear about it.
What’s been a memorable moment that you’ve had, or maybe a favorite guest or, you know, an outtake that really cracked you up. Cause I had a lot of outtakes. I had a lot outtakes here on the show or maybe there’s a question or an idea that you have for me, whatever it is.
Send me a DM over on Instagram. I’m at SallyZ_BeMoved. You can pop into the emerging speakers society. Send me a message over there. Just send me a note. Cause I’d love to hear from you.
Now, before we go, one final thing and that is this. If you’ve been here for a long time, or if you are brand new to me, I would really like us to build this movement together. Would be willing to fill out a ratings and review over on apple podcasts or wherever you listen to the show, because truly that is one of the ways that people discover the show and hear about it.
So. That would be awesome.
The second thing that I would love for you to do is to share the show with others. If you’re listening to this right now, take a quick screenshot, share it over on the socials. Maybe you could just share what I share that makes it really easy.
Then you just have to go. Or a thing, you know, 📍 it’s easy, it takes three seconds- let other people know what you appreciate about the show, what you find valuable that brings more people into this movement together. And that’s what this is all about because we can’t do it alone. I can do it alone.
You can’t do it alone. So let’s do it together..
I am so, so grateful for your help and your support and your passion for what we are doing and what you are doing. I am here to cheer you on. All right, movers. This moved me. What is moving? You see you next week. 📍
